Following the end of the Ministerial Council meeting yesterday, Deputy Minister Savvas Perdios has stated that Cyprus has noted a 80% arrivals capacity compared to the same period in 2019, a record-year for tourism in Cyprus.
The Deputy Minister stated that the Ministry has embarked upon a mission to strategise tourism into a modern and efficient policy, visiting more than 25 countries over a period of 9 months to raise awareness on Cyprus’s tourism brand. Asked about arrival numbers, he continued, Cyprus has received more than half a million arrivals during Q1 of 2022.
The war in Ukraine has seriously affected arrivals from Russia and Ukraine but new markets are being explored, namely France, Switzerland and Austria as well as Scandinavian countries, in a bid to attract tourists from non-traditional markets for Cyprus.
